Department Information

Introduction The predecessor of our department was the Department of Computer Science, established in February 1983. In response to the demand for advanced manpower in the development of the information industry, our department actively recruited faculty members with expertise in electrical engineering and information engineering since 1997, in order to enhance the cultivation of students' skills in information engineering and management. We passed the Higher Education Evaluation and Accreditation Council of Taiwan in 2007, and then obtained the accreditation from IEET (The Institute of Engineering Education Taiwan) in 2010, 2013, 2016, 2019, and 2022. The department's name was changed to the Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering in August 2011. The Master's program was established in 2014.

Our department has developed a comprehensive curriculum plan, ranging from fundamental university courses to core courses and distinctive courses, tailored to the latest developments in information engineering technology. The course content progresses from shallow to deep, emphasizing both theory and practice. It is designed to train students in essential knowledge for working in the field of information and lay the foundation for independent thinking and advanced theoretical research.
Course Features
  • Provide fundamental education in computer science and information engineering and solid training in software and hardware to build students’ solid theoretical foundation and ability to solve problems.
  • Strengthen practical application courses and hands-on experiment environments to cultivate students’ ability in information system design, implementation, integration, testing, and result demonstration.
  • Match students to companies for internships so that students can connect with the industry.
Course Essentials
  • Foundation courses: Introduction to Computer, Programming, Database System, Computer Network, Algorithm, System Analysis and Design.
  • Professional courses: Diversified courses include three major professional groups of [Artificial Intelligence], [Information Security], and [Internet of Things Application Systems]. Students can develop relevant expertise according to their interests.
  • Emphasis on practice: Many practical, certificate, and application courses are taught to cultivate students’ hands-on ability.
  • Lectures by industry teachers: Recruit industry experts to participate in the courses to strengthen students’ practical experience in the industry and cultivate the ability to integrate learning with practice.
  • Creativity Realization: Inspire students’ creative potential and cultivate their ability in information system design, implementation, testing, integration, and result demonstration through the [Information System Topic Implementation] required courses and competitions.
Future Development Further education: Can enter domestic information-related research institutes and study abroad.
Employment: Software engineers, network application engineers, information security engineers, embedded and firmware engineers, IoT application development engineers, system analysts, and designers. You can take the public service examination, serve in various academic institutions and corporate organizations as information personnel, or start your own business.
Scholarship Charitable Trust Pride Educational Fund Scholarship:
Three students per semester, 10,000 yuan each.
Internships and Industry-University Cooperation The Department offers the “Information Technology Enterprise Internship” course, which provides credits for students to participate in paid enterprise internships. Also, full-time teachers will assist in matching companies.
Plans
  • More classes related to the latest technologies of the information industry will be opened to educate students even more professionally.
  • Cooperate with other research organizations or private enterprises to offer students more practical opportunities for gaining experience.
  • Hold a program design contest each year.
  • Set up Multimedia and Network Laboratory.
